3. E.1. The institution’s co-curricular programs are suited to its mission and contribute to the educational experience of its students.
Miller College provides for its students an enriched educational environment. One way this enrichment is added is through its co-curricular programs, i.e. complementary programs, which include the Miller College Jobs Fair and the on-going availability of the Career Service Center. Oral and written communication skills, also part of the College’s Mission are further promoted through these types of co-curricular activities. Student clubs like the Miller College Student Association, the Nursing Student Association, the Binda School of Education Student Association, National Management Association (NMA) and the Literary Society provide educational opportunities creating an enriched educational environment. Additional programs contribute to this, and these include Autism Awareness, a program designed by the School of Education that hosted Tutor/Teacher training for interested community members (teachers, parents, et. Al.). The Children’s Literature Project, coordinated through the Director of Institutional Advancement, is an example of student exposure to further enrichment.
Other activities engaging students include the fundraiser for the Humane Society done each year in the form of a 5K run, the Welcome Back Bash, student involvement in the greater Battle Creek Community Zoo Boo, and the Conifer Open Golf Fundraiser.
