A Message from the President

In February of 2008, after a comprehensive Self-Study involving the entire College community, Miller College received initial accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission.  Since 2008 the College has grown in many ways and the entire College community seeks continued accreditation as a measure of our excellence and acceptance as a member of the higher education community.    Accreditation is critical to our community support and an assurance that we meet the standards applied to all members of the Higher Learning Commission and maintains the access of our students to various types of federal and state financial aid.

Since our last team visit the College has attained additional approvals of our teacher education program by the State Board of Education and the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Education program has been approved by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.  Recently our education program was recognized as being one of the top five in the state by the Michigan State Board of Education.

Looking forward we recognize that there are continuing challenges to face and that we live in perilous times.  In order to meet the needs of the community we seek to move into more weekend classes, distance learning, and a Master of Science in Nursing program in the near future.

Along our journey we have been extremely fortunate to have the support and sponsorship of the Miller and Binda Foundations as well as a tremendous working relationship with Kellogg Community College on whose campus we operate.

All of us at Miller College are proud of our success and confident that the materials contained in the Self –Study and the documents available for review by the team will allow for continued accreditation.

We are pleased to welcome the team to Miller College and the State of Michigan!
