Each year the AAUW of Battle Creek branch selects deserving college women from Miller College and Kellogg Community College to attend the AAUW National Conference for College Women Student Leaders (NCCWSL) held this year from May 30th through June 1st, 2013 at the University of Maryland in College Park, Maryland. Students will participate in workshops focusing on advocacy, leadership, health and wellness, and “real world” issues such as financial literacy and life after college. This year’s attendees include: Noelle Hogan, Miller College, and Hannah Smith and Jade Bolden, students at Kellogg Community College.
Noelle is a business management major. She is employed by Miller College and plans to use her business degree in a management capacity. During her spare time she enjoys reading and walking. Hannah is a nursing major at Kellogg Community College. She intends to specialize as an oncology nurse. Hailing from Delton, she enjoys helping out on her grandparents’ farmand being outdoors. Jade plans to complete her degree in business marketing/prelaw. She also attends Kellogg Community College and envisions obtaining a law degree from Howard University. Currently she enjoys singing at her church.
Hannah, Jade and Noelle will also attend the Women of Distinction Awards Ceremony, a definite highlight of NCCWSL. Several accomplished successful women leaders, in their respective fields, will receive this prestigious award. With approximately 500 students attending the conference, the students will have many occasions to network. For more information on NCCWSL, please visit www.nccwsl.org.
