Miller College Children’s Literature Project seeks classrooms to participate!

The Miller College Children’s Literature Project (CLP) is a writing and illustration contest offered to all 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th graders in public, private and home school settings.  Any district that is supported by the Calhoun Intermediate School District is invited to participate.

The Project began in the fall of 2009 and included nearly 1,000 students, 46 classroom teachers and one mother of two.  Last school year nearly 1,300 students participated throughout Calhoun and Eaton counties.

Several events will take place throughout the school year, which coincide with the CLP classroom activities, such as meet the author events and an awards dinner to celebrate the final 36 county-wide winners in the categories of Best Writing, Best Illustration and Best Overall Book.  Each of the 36 winning books will also be published in the Project’s Anthology book at the end of the school year.

This Project opens a door to a career path students may have never considered, while also strengthening the connection in their minds between creative communication and everyday life.

For more information or to sign up your classroom, please contact Jenny at (269) 660-8021, ext. 2921 or via email to ude.egellocrellim@jswerdna.
