PROJECT 20/20 TO HOST FORUM ON EMPLOYMENT AND JOB PREPARATION FOR STUDENTS & YOUNG PROFESSIONALS

Project 20/20 will partner with the Battle Creek Area Young Professionals, Urban League of Battle Creek Young Professionals and the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network of Southwest Michigan to host a forum on “Preparing for, Getting in & Moving Ahead in the Workforce”. The forum will take place on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. at the Burnham Brook Community Center located at 200 W. Michigan Avenue in Downtown Battle Creek. The event is free and open to the public. No RSVP is necessary. 

A facilitated panel discussion will shed light on resume building, relevant work experiences for a valuable resume, interview techniques, the importance of networking and building a professional network, and more. The panel participants include: 

• Patricia Adams, Assistant Vice President of Operations & Physician Services at Bronson Battle Creek 

• Trina Lewis, Senior Diversity and Inclusion Business Partner at Kellogg Company 

• Chris Sargent, Chief Professional Officer at United Way of Greater Battle Creek 

• Lisa Westbrook, Regional Manager at Employment Group 

 

High school students, recent graduates and young professionals will have an opportunity to hear first-hand from local employers about what students and young professionals can do to better position themselves when entering the workforce and while in the workplace. After the panel discussion, attendees will be able to join in a conversation about how to foster the career growth of students and young professionals. 

All community leaders, business leaders, hiring managers, parents, students, young professionals, healthcare representative, educators, and more are invited to attend. This conversation is a chance for community members to learn about key issues, connect with others and engage in a meaningful and worthwhile conversation about the employment opportunities and challenges facing the next generation. Community participation is important!
