What is a portal?
A portal is a site that provides a gateway to a suite of commonly used web services; the Miller College web portal provides access to authenticated web resources such as WebAdvisor, email, Virtual Library and Blackboard.

Does the portal affect how I log in to my campus computer in the morning?
You still need to log in to your computer; the portal log-in only affects logging in to online web resources (WebAdvisor, web email, etc.).

Do I have to go through the portal to check my GroupWise email?
If you are a staff member using the client (desktop icon) for GroupWise, your email access does not change. If you are using GroupWise web email, then you do need to access web email by going through the portal.

Why doesn’t my Favorites link (or bookmark) to my web email work?
Web email is still accessible, but you need to login through the portal, click on the GroupWise link and log in. You can book mark the portal site for future use.

What Internet browsers are recommended for use with the Portal?
Newer versions of Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Netscape have been tested for use with the portal. The AOL browser is not compatible with the portal.

What browser settings do I need to set to use the portal?

• Check that Cookies are enabled (usually set under Internet Options and/or Security options)
• Allow Pop-Ups (if you have a Pop-Up blocker, choose accept all Pop-Ups from this site)

Will I still need to log in to Blackboard with my Blackboard username and password?
Yes, you do! Blackboard does not use your Universal Username and Password

Miller College Universal Login
When you are admitted and become eligible to register at Miller College, you are assigned a unique Universal Username. This is your 7-digit Miller College ID preceded by the lower case letter m. For example, if your 7-digit Miller College ID was 1234567, your Universal Username would be m1234567.

You will create a Universal Password when you enter our Student Information Portal for the first time. The default password you will use for the first login is your 6-digit date of birth. For example, if your date of birth was March 7, 1980, your default password would be 030780.

When you log onto the Student Information Portal with the default password, you will be prompted to change your password. Please personalize your password so your accounts will be secure.
